RUST – SEPTEMBER UPDATE 2026
The September Update is here – bringing plenty of changes to RUST!
For the September 2026 update, Facepunch is focusing heavily on refreshing and improving existing gameplay systems. From new resources and healing items to base upkeep, vehicles, monuments and crafting, there is plenty to discover.
⚙️ Some of the Highlights
⛏️ New HQM Resources
Ultra-rare High Quality Metal Nodes and HQM ground pickups can appear in the world, providing new ways to obtain valuable High Quality Metal Ore.
🍯 Medical Honey Bandage
A new early-game healing option. The Honey Bandage provides immediate and gradual healing while also helping to stop bleeding.
🏠 Base Upkeep Changes
Larger groups may face increased upkeep costs, while smaller groups of up to four players remain unaffected by the additional upkeep taxation.
🔴 New Red Keycard Blockades
During the beginning of a wipe, certain Red Keycard areas may be protected by destructible blockades. Players who don't want to wait will need explosives to break through.
🚁 Destructible Vehicle Armor
Armor panels on Attack Helicopters and armored Hot Air Balloons can now degrade under sustained fire, gradually exposing the occupants inside.
🎨 Random Crafting Skins
Crafted items can now automatically receive a random skin from the player's owned skin collection.
📦 Updated Items & Loot Crates
Many items are receiving proper world models, while several familiar loot crates are getting a visual overhaul.
🚗 Handbrake & Drifting
Drivers are getting some love too – vehicles now feature a handbrake, making proper drift maneuvers possible.
⚔️ On top of that, there are numerous additional changes to weapons, crafting costs, loot, resources, monuments and existing gameplay systems.
